The Social Trade Organisation ( STRO Foundation ) is an organisation active in the field of Development Co-operation. We initiate and support sustainable projects with the aim of strengthening weak local economies in developing countries. Working in urban as well as in rural areas, we initiate trade networks, mainly in Latin America. These trade networks stimulate a varied production for their own regions and thus create employment. An example of this is the stimulation of small-scale production of bio-fuels for local agricultural engines in Honduras. In all our projects we put much emphasis on an environment-friendly approach.
To work in several of our projects we are looking for:
translators and editors for
voluntary, irregular work
The main subjects of our materials are: trade and economy, agriculture, international development, environmental awareness.
Activities:
- Translating our texts in and from one of the above-mentioned languages
- Editing previously translated or drafted texts.
The target groups of the texts can vary from the general public to specialists in the above fields.
Requirements:
- You can write fluently in both languages of any of the following language combinations (both directions):
Dutch-English, Dutch-Spanish, Dutch-Portuguese,
English-Spanish, English-Portuguese, Spanish-Portuguese
- Our preference goes out to capable and experienced speakers of English, Spanish and Portuguese.
- Contact may be maintained by email, if this is desirable. Therefore the location of residence or work is irrelevant, however an internet connection is fundamental.
- You are available for an approximate amount of 15 hours per quarter. For an impression of our projects and materials please refer to www.socialtrade.org . If you read Dutch, refer to www.strohalm.nl. For information on our Central-American projects, see www.stro-ca.org (Spanish).
